In this episode of “What’s New At USA Flooring”, Dave explains the plethora of options you have to choose from with Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT).  It is an affordable, waterproof and versatile option to homeowners if you don’t want the expense of Stone Tiles or Hardwood Flooring, yet it looks just like tile and hardwood flooring.

It’s construction usually starts with a cork layer on the bottom if you want the sound absorption of cork, or can come without that layer.  Next, is the core structure, followed by the Luxury Vinyl Layer which is developed with an actual image of a piece of stone or wood to give it that “Real” stone or hardwood look.  Finally, it is topped with a Wear Layer that is of vital importance to consider depending on the traffic of the floor.  USA Flooring usually recommends a wear layer of at least 12-22 MIL.  Some other stores may carry LVT with wear layers of 2-8 MIL, but it is much more likely to sustain damage.

Today you can also purchase Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP), where the vinyl flooring is in a long plank shape.  Consumers can also purchase Water Proof Core (WPC/LVT)  This option has a board shape and is more rigid so that it looks and feels just like hardwood flooring.  This makes it perfect if you need to place the flooring right over ceramic tile or another somewhat uneven surface.  Also, because of its waterproof properties, it can be laid in a basement or bathroom without worry of damage.
